| I have had corned hailed on many times in this stage. Like billybob says, it's not as bad as it looks. Biggest problem you will encounter is when the corn starts to put new growth back on it will "buggywhip" (leaves get twisted in a knot). If this happens the corn plant won't do anything. Hard to tell how much buggywhipping you will get as depends a lot upon growing conditions.
Never done it myself but have seen guys take a mower to corn that is badly buggywhipped and cut the tops off allowing the plant to free up. Corn went on to make accepatble yields. Even had an insurance adjuster suggest it if corn had a lot of buggywhipping. | |
