Jim, I aim to vaccinate all my calves at birth with a 7-way clostridial. Most often I use Vision 7 which is a 2cc shot. If I don't vaccinate at birth, sometimes I lose a nicer calf or two to overeating (enterotoxemia) at about 6 weeks of age before branding time. I also think the clostridial shot helps with the newborn calf developing better immunity to pneumonia and scours.
How do they get the birth weights advertised?
