You are right about the developer of the seed being protected if it is under patent, they also would be protected under the PVP, if they applied for it on the variety. If the seed folks that are against putting the pedigree on the label were honest, it has very little to do with someone stealing their variety, more about selling seed at over inflated prices under the current system.
If the farmer was given this information and company A was selling the hybrid for a $100 and company B was selling it for $60, what would a lot farmers do? | |
