NW Washington | "Reservoir tillage" is the fancy name for using tools like a Dammer-Diker to make holes to trap water and prevent round off. The irrigated land in central Washington is often hilly and the holes or reservoirs will trap the water and let more of it infiltrate into the soil and not run off and make ditches. Same is true in some parts of Idaho. Just ripping down hill without the reservoirs is not a good idea because often the water will run down the ripper track till it blows out somewhere at the bottom of the slope.
