Texas/New Mexico Stateline | Down here in West Texas quite a lot of irrigated corn farmers will take a straight shank ripper with diking attachments and go through corn that is 20-30 inches tall. They probably run about 8-10 inches deep. Their thinking is it will help water infiltrate and keep it from running out of the field. It looks to me like you will tear out a lot of roots and set the corn back. Is this practice common anywhere else? |
