Near-north Ontario, French River
Ed what's your opinion of getting aphids early like this? Since its very early in the season do you think it gives the aphid preditors ( Lady Bugs) a better opportunity to get established, and knock down the aphid population before any serious yield damage can be done? In the past we have seen aphids appear in july/august , their population explodes then stabilizes and slowly decline as the ( assuming they arent sprayed) the lady bug population increases. Often times within 3 weeks of the aphids appearance, the lady bugs have all but eliminated the aphids. Whats your thought? Would you rather have the aphids now when the beans are small or later in the season.(obviously the asnwer is we would NEVER like to have them in the first place !!)
