The -10 day and 8-14 day forecast are only as good as your records of long term rain probability.
Any Forecast out past 36 hours is getting onto shaky ground. There are simply too many thing that can change a forecast. A Forecast is really an educated guess. Now we use computers, to hopefully take some of the wishful thinking out of the picture.

The folks on TV tend to round up or down the computer generated PoP (Probability of Precipitation) based on local knowledge, or wishful thinking.

Personally I pay for a forecast from the Agricultural Weather Information Service, www.awis.com. Even then I feel the need to record their information on a spread sheet and to track their forecasting.

Or you can use NOAA for free.

The forecast over on agriculture.com is reasonably good for being free.
