East Central Ia
It can really depend on what type to injection system as to how deep it goes. All the custom guys around me blow it on the ground and use disk sealers to cover it up. This puts the manure very close to the surface and I think some loss still occurs. We use a knife set up that runs what looks like a big field cultivator knife about 6 inches deep with disk closers on the back. So our manure and NH3 should be about the same depth. It pulls a little harder then other types but it doesn't plug up or have moving parts that break. Working on that thing is NOT a fun job.

PS. Every side by side we have ever done the manure is at least 10bu better. Only wish we had more of it. I would be very curious to see some side by sides with hog manure, just NH3, and NH3 with P&K applied also.
