Subject: RE: People With kidney problems

My daughter had kidney failure when she was 13. She is now 22. She is currently on home dialysis 6 days a week, 3 hours per day. The advances that have been made over the last 10 years are amazing. Will his dialysis be in a clinic 3 days per week? At his age, that is what I assume. My daughter has done Hemodialysis both at home and at a clinic. She prefers peritoneal dialysis. This is done at night while the patient sleeps. The main problem for her is infection but she has other medical issues as well. People on dialysis can lead a "normal" life if they take care of themselves. There is one thing that my family has realized; there is no such thing as a normal life. His life will be what he makes it. He may not be able to do all the things that he could do before his illness but he can still lead a very fulfilling life if he so chooses . This is something that the whole family must go through together. Family support is very important.
