Subject: RE: Cars of the past

Northern Illinois

My first car, (bought when I was 15) was one that looked identical to this....

Torino

except every dime I earned went to air shocks, glass packs, Hooker headers, ET aluminum slots, and on & on.

Even with the 428 CJ, I kept getting beat up by SB Chevys.

Finally got rid of this, jumped ship, and haven't looked back.

A '71 Z-28 replaced the Ford, and a '73 Z replaced that a couple of years later. Not a single picture of either one.

Then it was on to a Monte Carlo, a pickup truck, a wife, kids, mini vans!

Just about the time the first one was close to getting his licence, I suggested that we look for an old car to work on, and get the boys interested.

Didn't have to look very hard, and found this one about 15 miles from home...

71 Arrival

12 years later we still have the boys, and the car, and a couple of its younger brothers...

A re-enactment photo...

71 Later

and where they are today....

The Herd

I remember my Dad telling stories of tricks they used to do to make the cars faster. I think I got that bug from him.

Even though he was a die-hard Ford man, I'm hoping he's looking down on us with a smile, and proud of what we have.
