Central Kansas | My first combine experience was on a 112 Cockshutt out of the late 40's, I believe. Had Bomber tires on it and it was chain drive from the wheel to the power source...maximum road speed was almost 5MPH. I remember being in probably the 3rd or 4th grade at a country school and seeing "Dad's" combine being driven down the road to our farm when it was delivered. This was dads first SP. He ran it till the early 60's and then stepped up to a Gleaner A. Man!. couldn't believe that you could obtain a road speed of 15 MPH and also have the added benefit of variable speed drive in the field...WOW! Put an add on cab on it an that made it even better! | |
