Hi old pokey, Im from Dallas Oregon and we grew Hairy Vetch and always planted about 10% by weight with oats, it made it easier to swath and combine. Then we cleaned the vetch out with an old seed cleaner to replant and put the rest back with the oats and put into the grainery to grind for feed. We also did this with peas. When I was growing up in the sixties the hills around here were purple when the vetch was blooming because it was planted during the 40's and 50's when so many acres were put in Soil Bank. WE had a lot of it for years in our hay fields, made good hay for the cattle and sheep....James
