| I only planted 24500. According to my crop scout, that is about what I got. My own counts were a little less than that, I got 22500-23000, but that is enough for the situation. I try to plant hybrids that have good ear flex and always figure a hybrid should easily make 9 bu per 1000 plants. Some will do more than that but with this population I should be able to get about all the ground is capable of. It is irrigated but very short water supply and of course in Nebraska you can't depend on rain unless it is in the spring when you don't need it. It is raining again now, hope we don't get another flood.
This field has had 2 heavy rains on it but with the residue it has held the soil very well except for a couple of places where I need some waterways. | |
