Well I got it out.  The "cheetah" did the trick.  Stuck it into the bottom, and opened the handle.  My daughter screamed, and the potato hit the floor.  Here are som pics of the exciting event.  Sorry Milo- No video footage-  Maybe next time.  The potato had a hole clear through where the snake punctured it, but didn't pull it out.  Thanks for all of the good advice and helpful hints. 

P.S.  The picture of the toilet bowl is in NO WAY indicative of the cleanliness beforehand.  Weird black stuff came out of the cheetah.
