East central Iowa | Recently worked on a Vista machine. It had 2GB memory and a hot procesor. Was only slightly slower than my 933MH with 512MB. Constantly asking for permission and blocking things. The reason I had it was the owner couldn't get on the internet. With XP machines I plug them into my network and they are on. This machine didn't do that. Not only that but trying to check the release the IP was impossible.
The aero windows was worthless. I am not impressed with Vista and putting it on an XP machine would be a step backwards. Each iteration of windows is slower and more difficult to use for those who like to tweak their machines. Not only that but finding drivers for Vista is a lost cause. Microsoft likes to say it has tried 1000 programs. I believe there are more likely 50,000 that they haven't tired. I have several people purchasing new printers and scanners because Vista doesn't have a driver. The computer yesterday was an Asus and didn't have drivers for the audio card. | |
