Bad hailstorm in Sept '77 & the Blizzard of '78 pretty much did in the quail & pheasant populations arounf here. Until then we had a fairly large populations of both, I recall harvesting beans & corn , or what was left of them, & seeing many dead pheasants & quail that had tried to get under the plants in an effort to avoid the hail. Hail was bad ebough to shell corn off the cob, Coyoto populations have really exploded in the kast few years & haven't helped. We are just beginning tosee a comeback in rabbit numbers
