Nice video production and no clue what so ever. I'd say they need to work with some pregnant sows for a while and see what they come up with - you think wayne p. is up for it? I think our issue is the insult - it's not like anything in ag is done just for the fun of it or to be cruel - especially in animal ag, it has to work for the critter and the farmer with it usually going more the critter's way and the farmer working harder. So, why do we let some no knowledge folks tell us with the knowledge we are wrong? Do we let 'focus groups' determine what thickness a automotive wheel rim should be? No and with good reason.

I wonder if an ad campaign should be launched to basically say "who is hsus and why should anyone listen to them?" - they are not the experts they just have an agenda. Then go on to talk about the continuously improving nature of ag and how we adopt improved methods almost every year.

The biggest problem is that folks give money to these self destructive, self appointed experts. hsus doesn't care about any animal at all and wouldn't know good animal husbandry if it hit them in the face. This is a move for political power - I used to think alot of these folks just smoked too much pot when they were younger to get elected so they are taking an alternative route to power. Unfortunately, as more of their own kind actually make into judgeships they actually get that power - completely unelected.

There seems to be a long line of folks wanting to force their ideas on others - think about that when we have elections and socialist types are running for office. At least hsus has to spend lots of their money in court to get their wishes not just legislate it for the 'good of the people'. It's perfectly ok for folks to be vegetarians, notil only, organic only, whatever - they are just different markets and preferences. My preference for pork loin has no effect on whether or not my neighbor eats pork, veggies or rocks. I just expect there to be a market for my preferences just like my neighbor does.

Also, we if everyone decides they don't want to eat meat and the market goes away, we all promise to stop growing commerically - we'll still grow for ourselves. There is pretty good data to show that meat eaters have better brain development. In a few generations I figure my family and others who eat like we do would eventually become the 'smartest people on earth' ala the movie "Idiocracy". (kind of a must see to get a feel for where we are going)

thanks,

Pat

PS: sorry for making the long rant longer, but I used to post counter points in the comment section on these videos and usually ended up arguing with some lady who thought her cat was smarter than her - didn't get so far to say the least. Fortunately, youtube while popular isn't the first destination for anybody really and unless some news outlet wants to pump it up it goes almost unnoticed except by us growers and hsus supporters. While I do not like the way news is presented I am glad that once the new cycle is over it's gone unless it has some legs like last year's flu that was supposed to kill everybody. the hsus story is getting old - yesterday's news. Ok, so stupid news directors can serve a purpose once in a while.
