i guess that would have burned me too. carter ruined the markets for sure. too bad the gov't steped in though, somewhat like the gm deal. many young farmers all ready to step in to buy cheap assets when the overleaveraged went bankrupt. no, the gov't bailed them out, and now they doing good. a local big operator got 240 acres almost free when loan written down. gov. elect brandstads bro. got largest write down in state. that kind of boost can allow you to outbid the financialy prudent on rent for a long time. even now, the bto's can buy a farm a year just with the govt payment.

not complaining, just showing how the market is altered when goverment steps in. there would have many more farmers if they were allowed get a start in the 80's. i would like to see the payments end, if for no other reason just to have a pr problem end.
