We've been twice to the 4th of July race there, never been to the 500 in Feb. We may try to go this year. The summer race itself was fine, as it is run at night. It's plenty warm, but tolerable (I live in South AL, so it may be different for folks from north of Birmingham ie: Yankees ;).

The trouble with the July race is you couldn't go and do anything during the day. You couldn't catch your breath. The beach there is a MAJOR disappointment if your used to white sand like you see in the northern gulf coast.

We always stayed in Ocala. Less than an hr away (cheaper, quieter, and easier to get reservations late), and always went to Silver Springs (where they have the glass bottom boats).
