Paul Thompson sent a me a copy of his paper, and when asking for permission to send it to my lists learned you can access the following websites for the papers from the full symposium.
Thanks to Gail Golab for providing the access information and to Paul for sending the original message.

Hi Richard,

The good news is that, since the symposium at which this paper was presented was an AVMA-AAVMC joint project, the AVMA requested that the AAVMC make this particular issue of JVME open access and the AAVMC was generous enough to do so. Therefore anyone can get a copy of the article at the online site for JVME.

This particular issue of the JVME actually includes all of the papers from “Swimming with the Tide,” the 2009 AVMA-AAVMC Joint International Educational Symposium on Animal Welfare in Education and Research, so you might wish to share the link for the full issue? That would be here: http://www.jvmeonline.org/content/vol37/issue1/index.dtl. There are a number of papers from that event in which your list members may have an interest. In addition, they can access the actual PowerPoints for the meeting (as well as links to each of the speakers’ papers for those who submitted them) on the AVMA website here:
http://www.avma.org/awsymposium/agenda.asp.
And…in addition…DVDs of the 2.5-day event can be purchased from the AVMA. We will have information about those up on our website very shortly, but anyone with an interest can contact me right now ([email protected]) and get information about how to order.

Hope this helps,

Gail
