| One difference is that in Indiana is to build a new school all it takes is approval by that school's local board. In Illinois I believe it takes a majority vote of the registered voters in that district. Personally, I would like to see the IN voters have more say in the matter. Right now, if they don't approve their only recourse is to vote the school board members out the next election. Problem there is not all the positions come up at the same time.
Our school board has 5 members, one from each township. All the townshipds vote for every school board member. Personally, I think each twp should elect the member that represents their twp. | |
