central - east central Minnesota -

Greywolf - 11/30/2010 08:38 Wife is going in this coming Monday for hip replacement. Checked at New Ulm, primary consult exam etc etc. Prognosis at that time was she'd be back anywhere from 1 - 5 yrs for replacement. Her folks are retired from the business office at the Mayo and at that time, convinced her the only place to go was the Mayo. So last Jan went down and did the whole consult exam etc etc all over again and got a cortisone shot to see if it would help. She degraded enough in 3 months she was bone on bone. The conclusion from the Mayo is that New Ulm had a better orthopedic surgeon than the Mayo did. He did all his training at the Mayo. With the rapid degradation, New Ulm will biopsy the bone to see why the rapid degradation occurred. Mayo at that time didn't seem concerned about the matter. No one from this immediate area that have gone through hip replacement had anything negative to say about their experience at New Ulm.

Good example - the Mayo is so good, that they recommend to go to a better - former Dr.
Kind of like what the Macy's Santa was doing, to help customers find the toy or less expensive toy on the movie Miracle on 34th Street . . . .  heeehehehehe
