This pope (if it turns out that he was involved in the cover-up - and there is a LOT of evidence pointing to that) would not be the first bad one in the history of the Church. Attitudes like yours in the Church hierarchy are what lead to the cover-ups in the first place.

Messing with innocent children or covering up/protecting those who do are unforgivable sins in my opinion. In fact, I'd be more willing to forgive the pedophiles - they are often times mentally ill. But moving them to another area and allowing them to continue to offend - well, that is just wrong.
