West Texas | Sounds like there are a lot of us "That Guy's" out here. Tickles me when the Custom harvesters with their brand new machines tell me (with my 30 year old combine) that I can't cut my neigbors wheat or milo for $15. Let them know that I don't have to support the dealers and the bankers with my machine. Don't have to cut very many acres to pay for the maintence and fuel. The way I figure it, I get all of mine cut for nothing but the time involved and the time will be there regardless. Also the few acres that I cut for the neighbors goes a long ways in paying for the fuel and maintence on the tractors. When the old one give up the ghost, theres always another one sitting in someones pasture that can be rejuvinated for a few years. We have a junk iron dealer here that will buy the whole combine across the scales and you don't have to cut it up. | |
