southern MN | Farming is about raising the same crop as everyone else all the same way as all the neighbors, for a little less than they do it.
Sounds boring that way.
Why _wouldn't_ you want to be able to do it your own way, and have some enjoyment with it?
I wouldn't want to do it like everyone else, just another boring cog in the wheel.
I think I got the coffee shop all hot & bothered this fall, my straw chopper threw a bearing the first day out, so I took it off & let the bean stubble windrow. Only a 15 foot head so it's not that big a deal, the stubble flowed through the chisel plow all but 3 times so nothing to concern myself with.
Heard from a couple people tho, what I was up to, am I baling all my bean stubble, what's my deal?
Well, I chose timely harvest of my few acres of beans over working with a stubborn bearing on a weekend. Combine works better without the chopper in corn for a bonus. Not that big a deal to me, seems it was to others.
