Subject: Went through MSP yesterday

Iowa

I travel through Minneapolis fairly often.  I just went through there yesterday.  A few tips...

  1. If you do not stay at a hotel that offers an airport shuttle, park at one of the off-site lots that will shuttle you to the airport.  It will save you money and you are picked up/dropped off right at your car, versus walking across large lots.  I recommend these folks: http://www.pnf.com/
  2. If you have a passport, use it for an ID versus your driver's license.
  3. Do not attempt to take any liquids on board or even empty liquid containers (water bottles, etc.), except for those that will fit in the Ziploc bag.
  4. You can bring on one carry-on suitcase and one briefcase/laptop bag/etc.  Do not overfill your carry-on.  If you do, and it is a challenge to get in the overhead compartments, you will not have fun.  The briefcase/laptop bag/etc. can sit underneath the seat in front of you.
  5. If possible, avoid checking luggage, makes the trip much more smooth.
  6. Wear shoes and a belt that are easy to remove.
  7. Remove everything from your pockets, including paper items, and place them on the conveyor prior to going through security screening.
