| Chad,
they are wondering around here doing the same thing, a few of the better off farmers are even offering to buy a farm or two from landlords to rent the rest of the ground. it is getting harder and harder to rent any ground at all for a younger farmer but i can say this, there are a few "select" individual landlords who are smart enough to know that the ones to come in and offer that much more per acre is more than likely not going to make it very many years paying ALL of his landlords that same amount per acre. the only time this isnt true is when this same guy owns most of his land or when this guys landlords dont make it into town to hear the coffe shop talk
tho on the opposite side of things some landlords are more than willing enough to rent it out for a $10 an acre bid more to a farmer who is harvesting into spring every year and planting into june, not to mention spraying the weeds when they are going to seed and mining the fertility levels it took years to build up just to see the $$$$$ in his pocket. but they think that their is always some other sucker to come along and do the same thing all over again. | |
