What difference does it make if every housewife from Minneapolis to Mumbai were super duper commodity traders with the latest computer technology? Traders don't determine the price of commodoties. Supply and demand fundamentals do. Traders of futures contracts place wagers on the future movement of the underlying, they neither produce nor consume it. Corn prices are higher do to lower output and a weaker currency in which it is priced not because "smart" money is buying futures.
