USA | Was talking to a fellow about this, a few days ago. He said he was paying $140 cash rent on a farm, with the understanding the rent was supposed to be around 1/3 of the gross. Landlord has not asked for any more rent for this year or next year. Corn on this farm averaged 190, beans 59. I told him if it was me, would pay the landlord another $60 acre more for the 10 crop and tell the land owner, he would pay a bonus over the $140 rent next year depending on how things turned out.
IMO best to be upfront and proactive with land owners about the current and future rent situation. To do otherwise is foolish. | |
