Eastern Nebraska | Elizabeth graduated yesterday from Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. It was a most impressive ceremony. There were 718 graduates yesterday. Her squadron of 31 girl made Warrior Squadron. It is a rare thing for girls to make this as it has to do with physical fitness training and overall readiness. They missed honor squad by 4 points.... I am very proud of them... The General who gave the remarks yesterday was saying that these graduates are in an elite group... 75% of todays young people are not eligble to go into any branch of the service for one reason or another. Of the reminaing 25% on 3% of them will take the oath to honor and defend this country... putting them in a very elite group...the cream of the crop.... It was very impressive the courtesy and respect that these young people showed for each other, themselves, and every one that they came in contact with.... Whether we agree with the military or not and what they do we have to remember that it is this great group of people that defend this country and our freedoms.
