If your local band is like our local bank, they don't have any great insight that shows they are better financial managers than anyone else. They just kept the mortgage loans from the very very low risk customers and sold off the rest. Anyone can look like a great financial expert operating like that. If you want to get a loan to buy farmland then you're going to have to go somewhere else....well, they did say once that they'd loan up to half the value of land as long as the land didn't cost more than $500/acre and that was back when land was selling for $2000/ac. Its ironic that their fiscal conservatism doesn't prohibit them from loaning $45,000 on a new car that will be worth $15,000 in 5 years....
