I dont think your test would prove anything because the road ditch and field are being treated differenty. N can come from a variety of sources (eg decayed grass in the road ditch). Maybe I am missing the point of your test.
I did a test of side dressing N (dropping 13 g of 32%) every other 90 feet in corn this year. You can tell to the foot the pattern of N drop in the volunteer corn 5 months later being much darker green.
What shall I do?
