After reading and rereading your post it seems like his only problem is with the technology. If so a check list and reference sheet will help. Maybe put the owners manuals to the controllers and GPS in the cab so he can look up what he needs to know also? Make copies of the trouble shooting pages or settings pages? I can understand the cell problem. Can he set his phone on vibrate and put it in a pocket? There are a lot of guys farming full time older than 64. Work with him. After not using any of the controllers for several months it's like going back to school for him to relearn how to use them. I have to "take a refresher course" each year myself on what I have and I don't have GPS (what's an AB line?).
