That load of fun doesn't start till 2012 tax returns......at that point (unless the rule contained in the health care bill is overturned before then) it's any purchase >$600, no matter what.  Right now, it's just goods or services over $600, unless the provider is a corporation.  1099s are not required to be sent to corporations currently.
