Give one to him, show him how to check say google news, some dtn links, his own email, AND how to do some simple word process notes with say Word, then have him print those.

Not as tough as it sounds, and you and he will both have some fun learning.

Reason the afore works...is because once they kind of understand how a computer works, then they are not afraid of that type of equipment ( they know it won't break if they mess up thus won't bite em...worst that happens is push the reset botton ).

I taught some of the High Plains Regional Edu rural computers deals in this area.
Most folks were 60 and up, no one had ever turned a computer on before.

Takes about 3 to 4 weeks, couple evenings a week and he'll be up and running.

Matter of fact he could end up showing you how to set the farm tech stuff...simply because if he's interested in mechanics ( that's all a computer is ) he will take time to READ the tech manuals and watch the videos etc......my bet is you and your brother basically "wing it."
