South Plains of Texas | There is one pic that shows where they had stripped. I think that is the one your referring too. It is acceptable to leave a few locks on the stalk. We can set a stripper to where it will get every lock. The cotton is stripped off with rubber bats and nylon brushs. If set to get all the cotton it will also scrape bark off the cotton stalk and we will get what is called a barky on the grading. It can be a heavy deduction on the grading and so it is better to leave a few locks. The few locks left won't amount to a lb. or two to the acre. The deduction can amount to several cents per lb.
