NC Kansas | Could you afford to loose that area in the shop? Maybe build a small lean-to onto the shop? I worked on a farm that added an office inside the shop(restroom also) and it turned out great, I think. We didn't heat the shop real well, so adding an office and restroom that was heated all the time was a big improvement. Robbed an old house for the central heat/AC set-up and water heater. Put the furnace and AC unit in the restroom with the water heater, and made the restroom big enough to park the Hotsy in during the winter. The office made a great place for gathering at the beginning of the day, interviewing applicants and on and on.
The shop was about 50X100 with a 50X40 area with concrete floor. We added 10-15 feet of concrete to make the shop then 50X50 and placed all the plumbing in for the restroom. Added a set of stairs to get on top of the office for our own "parts room". Even by adding the restroom/office, the shop just got better.
If you do add a restroom, add a urinal. When the target is closer, it's easier to hit!
