How far away from home do pasture cattle?

a wet cycle.

Since those are decades between, takes more like 50 acres normally.

Generally more consistent moisture ( for sure better summer monsoons ) west of the continental divide than in the east country.

Also depends on your mountains ( west side and east side both ).

Each mountain set makes it's own weather.
( largest sized land area individual mountain in the continental usa is NE at Des Moines, NM )

Plenty of it is better yearling country than cow country.
Takes say 14 acres average for a 300 to 500 lb net gain yearling season.

And plenty is to rough for yearlings too, so is great for hiefer development or cows.

Best cattle ration is the best elk ration too: A touch of grass and plenty of rocks and scenery.
