The problem is, raising taxes doesn't automatically raise revenues. The best way to raise revenues is to grow the e anomy, that's why the highest tax revenues in history were a couple years after the 03 tax cuts. It's hugely debatable whether raising taxes in a time of sub 1% GDP growth will actually increase revenues.
