A copy of that page, with the number, with the receipted green delivery tag, or at least the white tag, has always established very quickly beyond any question that the specific document was received by IRS.
The law requires that taxpayer "delivers" document..........but the practicality of that goes much further.
Lost documents occur very seldom, compared to the frequency of having to prove up timely filing of specific documents.
More tax stuff--------- crap does happen........use certified mail.........
