You've got sometimes 1-2 that can respond ? That's more than the dept here. Our Dept has no one working within 15 miles during the day . Plus , there has been so much in-fighting in the dept that there are less than 10 ( the last number I heard was 8 but that was a year ago) firefighters total . There's more Captains and Chiefs than Fire Fighters... And while you are correct about MABAS, it's more complex than just having the fire whistle go off and everyone show up , especially for a simple house fire. I'll defer to what a neighboring Chief told me " if it wasn't for the Mutual Aid agreement , those pricks wouldn't save any house " .. When I said "here" in my other post I was speaking very local .
