| My wife has been a teacher for over 20 years. She has a Bachelors +15, meaning she has more than 15 hours above her degree in Elementary Education. The pay scale in Illinois is based on the number of years and education attained. She chose not to get a Master's degree for the simple fact that it wouldn't pencil out. Attaining the Masters would not make her a better teacher at all. I've seen too many come and go that don't really care about the kids, only the paycheck. No matter what degree you have, your heart has to be in it. The heart is what makes great teachers not the head. | |
