Subject: RE: The trucker did leave you a bill of lading right??

Kittitas Co. Wa. State

"here" it is required. date, how much, what it is, driver, and truck id.

Long as you have that paperwork, and the buyer can be tracted down, get ahold of your State A.G's Office, on an interstate trade deal such as this I believe the state will step in.  State's don't like its citizens getting ripped off.  Cut's into their tax revenue stream.

State will help, just have to keep shaking their tree.

Scammer hay buyers abound.  Far as checks, they're not worth the money it cost for the paper.  Checks are only good if the check writer/issuer want's them to be good.

To really be safe when dealing with hay buyers and any type of check situation. Request a bank letter of credit or certified check actually written by the bank. (bank draft)  That way you would actually be receiving money from the bank's "checking account".

Or, go to credit cards. It's not too difficult to get set up and once you have the Credid Card Company's "authorization number" the C.C.Company will pay.  Then it's their problem getting the money out of the credit card holder.

Don't beat yourself up. You acted in good faith, Buyer on the other hand is a rodent.
