Northern California
I'm from Northern California as well, I grow rice and walnuts and yes i think the walnut crop will hit 510,000 tons this year. rice will be lucky to hit 85cwt/ac. It is not all corp or large private farms i think the average farm size is 500ac. Don't get me wrong we have some very large private and corp farms but small family operations are the norm in my area. We have a lot of paper work and regulations which at times is time consuming and frustrating, but it helps with our food safety and quality that enables us to export our crops around the world with consumer confidence. I will not get into the water wars they are just like the rest of the nations water wars, not enough to go around. great saying "whiskeys for drinking waters for fighting" . I enjoy this site everyday, tell stories about what others post, I have even got my father started visiting.
