NW Washington
I read the other day somewhere that 1/3 of all of our food is grown or produced in California.

Just tonight I read that about 80% of the world supply of almonds are grown there, one billion pounds were shipped to 90 countries and 450 million pounds when shipped domestically. Also 510,000 tons of walnuts are to be harvested this year. Number one dairy producer. Number one wine producer. The list goes on.

A good deal of the farms in California are huge private or corporate operations with hired hands doing most of the day to day farm work. Spanish is probably the first language of many of them.

A north south trip though the through the center of California's main agricultural growing area is a real eye opener.
It is sure not Hollywood, San Francisco or LA which we hear about all the time.
