While I run to Oregon for a breath of fresh air everyday, I'll admit to being from California. This little corner of CA is probably much different than what you'd imagine CA being, and is different from much of the state. One thing about CA is it is very diverse. We are a high 4,000+ elev high desert here, mostly all hay, grain and cattle. Some row crops, potatoes mostly with some onions, horseradish, mint.

I'm located in the furthest NE corner of CA, in probably the most sparsley populated county in CA. There are over 4,200 square miles in Modoc County, and still less than 10,000 people. Largest town only has 3,000 people, and its over 60 miles from here, although there is a larger town in Oregon that is closer.

CA is still a major cotton state, although I don't know much about it myself. Nearest cotton is probably around 400 miles south of me in the San Joaquin Valley, mostly at the southern end.
