Off topic in a way but I figured there are some savvy engineer and practical mechanical types here. We have an 1880 house with a huge chimney nearly 40 feet tall. We are thinking of adding another corn burner, an insert but my experience says they are designed to exit right outside, not up a chimney. Do I dare install an insert in the living room fireplace with a chimney that tall? Wood burns well there but winds sometimes force smoke back down the chimney. Rare it is but if you are not careful in those times you can smoke up the house. Don't refer me to iburncorn or such places, I can do that. I want to know what people on this page think and that is why I am asking here. Thanks in advance and if you don't answer I understand. Ed Winkle |
