As someone who teaches Soil Science at a fairly large university, I've got to ask, have any of you actually taken a really good university course on-line?

I communicate regularly with my students via email... my students submit assignments using web-base software... my students use the internet to track down information. I post lecture power point presentations on-line (and occasionally in the Crop Talk forum) but I really can't imagine that my students could get anywhere close to the full educational experience if they don't hear my interpretation of the power point slides, participate in discussions in and out of class and engage in hands on-experiences in lab and on field trips.

I would love to hear about some good on-line ag classes but until then I will remain very skeptical that on-line Soil Science, Crop Science or any other ag science courses are comparable to high quality on-campus courses.
