Nothing as touching as innocent, trusting children. Like you said, takes your mind off the sorry crop. My "now-gone" grandma used to say, "What would life be without children?" And my "now-gone" dad used to say (with sadness and affection mixed) Children--when they are young, they step on your toes, when they are older they step on your heart. They truly do make life worth living.
