South Plains of Texas
That is definitely on my bucket list. The guy that built Rare Bear was from near here. He passed away a couple of months ago. His name was Lyle Shelton, and he held many speed records at Reno. Interesting story happened about 2 weeks after they buried him. A woman flew into the airport at Brownfield and asked about where the cemetery was and told them that she knew Lyle and he was her mentor. They carried her to a motel since it was late and she said she would get a ride to the cemetery the next day and then back to the airport. One of the operators of the airport went to check on her the next day and she had already left the motel so he went to the cemetery. He found her laying on top of Lyle's grave where she had commited suicide.
